Awards and Scholarships
Dancer of the Month Award - Each month, we select four dancers as our “Dancers of the Month.” All of our teachers vote on this award for dancers who have shown excellence, all or in part, in the following areas: attendance over the past month/no tardiness (no more than 5 minutes), proper dance attire/hair (leotard, tights and hair away from the face preferably in a ponytail or bun), proper shoes worn to class (color is not an issue only that they are wearing the right style for the right class), attitude (a positive one!), knowledge of lessons learned or routine taught and finally that the child's account is current. These dancers will receive a “Dancer of the Month” sign to display in their yard for the month, as well as a congratulations page with their picture on our website and a display in our lobby.
Annual Awards -
Each year at our Spring Recital, we recognize a number of dancers for their achievement and dedication to the art of dance with the following awards and scholarships:
• Achievement Award – Every dancer receives an achievement award based on the number of years they have danced at The Perfect Step.
• Perfect Attendance Award - This is a very special award given to those dancers who have attended all of their dance classes throughout the year.
• Most Improved Award – This award is presented to two dancers at each of our recitals who have worked extremely hard throughout the year to learn the fundamentals and the choreography in their classes.
• Rising Star Award - This award is also presented to two dancers at each of our recitals who stand out week after week because they have such a desire to learn new steps, they push themselves week after week to get every step just right and they have a love for dance that shows in all of their classes.
• Dance Scholarships – Dance scholarships are awarded to three deserving dancers who have exhibited a strong desire to make a greater commitment to dance. These dancers are hard workers in class, they have a desire to learn and their teachers believe that these dancers would truly benefit from the opportunity to take additional dance classes. In order to encourage these talented and deserving young dancers to make a greater commitment to pursuing their interest in dance, they each receive a $500 scholarship toward their dance tuition at The Perfect Step the following year.
• Dancer of the Year - One dancer is chosen each year who truly exemplifies the spirit of The Perfect Step. This dancer receives a trophy and a free summer camp of their choice. In addition, we have a Dancer of the Year plaque that hangs in the studio and each year we will add the new Dancer of the Year’s name to the plaque. This is a huge honor and one that has become a tradition at The Perfect Step.
