Step – Dance Class Descriptions
Description of
Dance Styles Offered:
TAP: Develops rhythm and coordination skills, balance and
control. Introduction to fundamentals of
Tap, instruction on exercises to improve technique and clarity, intricate
footwork patterns, speed and complex combinations of steps. Specialized focus on the style of Rhythm Tap,
as well as other styles. Class length is
30 minutes to 1 hour, based on age and ability.
BALLET: Fundamental ballet technique classes are essential
to developing a strong Dancer. Class
focus is on proper posture, proper form and technique, rhythm development,
coordination and body lines. French
ballet terms are used on all levels to naturally allow the Dancer to learn and
use the proper vocabulary. Classes include
barre work, across the floor exercises and center floor combinations. Basic Ballet technique is the foundation for
all Jazz and Tap movement. It is,
therefore, strongly recommended that all students take a Ballet class in
addition to other classes. Class length
is 30 minutes to 1 hour, based on age and ability.
JAZZ: Jazz classes condition a Dancer in the areas of
strength, flexibility, coordination and technique. Various jazz styles and techniques are taught
based on the age and ability level of the class. Class length is 30 minutes to 1 hour, based
on age and ability.
CLOGGING: Clogging technique focuses on rhythms and foot
patterns. Students learn the basics of
clogging, as well at intricate footwork and combinations. Class length is 30-45 minutes, based on age
and ability.
